Community physiotherapy is unlike anything you’ll have experienced on placement in a hospital or clinic.
Your participants live in the real world, and that’s exactly where you’ll work with them, in their homes, their schools, their communities, and at our hubs across Melbourne.
At Ignite, you’ll work with NDIS participants across paediatric and adult caseloads, supporting people to build strength, mobility and independence in the environments that actually matter to them.
Your caseload will be varied, your participants will be complex in the best possible way, and the relationships you build will be long-term.
You’ll be supported by Naa-ilah, our Clinical Excellence Lead for Physiotherapy, and a team of experienced physios who know what it’s like to find your feet in your first year.

What your caseload looks like
Community physiotherapy at Ignite spans a genuinely varied mix of presentations and age groups. In your graduate year you’ll build exposure across:
Muskuloskeletal
Working with participants on pain management, injury recovery, and building strength and function in their day-to-day environments. Community MSK is hands-on, practical, and deeply rewarding.
Chronic health
Working alongside participants managing long-term health conditions, helping them build capacity, maintain function, and improve quality of life over time.
Neurology
Supporting participants with neurological conditions to improve movement, function and independence. You’ll work across a range of presentations and develop skills that sit at the heart of community physio practice.
Healthy ageing
Supporting older participants to stay active, maintain independence, and reduce falls risk in their homes and communities.
Assistive technology
As part of your caseload you’ll also gain exposure to assistive technology, supporting participants to access the equipment and aids that help them move through the world more independently.
Your caseload builds gradually across these areas, giving you a strong generalist foundation before you start to find your own direction.
What you'll need to apply for our physiotherapy graduate program
- A completed Bachelor or Masters of Physiotherapy
- Current or pending AHPRA registration
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain prior to starting)
- A valid Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to starting)
- Police Check (or willingness to obtain prior to starting)
- A genuine interest in community-based, person-centred care with NDIS participants

Yes, you’ll need to have applied for and received your registration from AHPRA before your start date. We can help you understand what’s required and time your application to align with your start.
Our graduate program runs across Melbourne. You can apply via the general ‘Melbourne’ role and we’ll match you to your most suitable hub in either Melbourne’s North, Southeast, or West.
