Why Would I Need an Occupational Therapist?

It’s simple – Occupational Therapy helps you live life on your terms, with more independence and confidence. Whether it’s managing everyday tasks, moving around your home, or connecting with your community, OTs focus on the whole picture to help you thrive.

Here’s how we help you get there:

  • Assessments: Functional Capacity, End of Plan Reports, Sensory Assessments
  • Assistive Technology & Housing Assessments
  • Capacity Building to Support Your Independence

Our OTs don’t work alone. They’re backed by a team of experts to ensure your care is always top-notch. With regular peer reviews, we keep your goals on track.

Who Do Your Occupational Therapists Help?

OTs can support everyone! No matter your age, goals, or diagnosis, we’ve got your back.

When you reach out, we’ll listen, chat through your needs, we’ll only recommend working together if we truly believe we can make a difference.

Whether it’s through telehealth, in-clinic, or at home across Victoria and Queensland, let’s connect and work together to get you where you want to go.

Get in touch, and let’s chat about how we can support you moving forward.

What Can I Expect at the Appointments?

Our first meeting is a chance to get to know each other! Whether it’s at home, in the clinic, or via telehealth, we’re here to listen and have a chat. Here’s the rundown:
  • We’ll talk about what matters most to you and how we can help you reach your goals.
  • No formal assessments yet—just getting to know your story and figuring out the next steps.
  • By the end, we’ll both have a clear picture and be ready to kick things off

What Happens After My First Appointment?

  • We’ll create an individualised support plan, linking your OT hours to your big NDIS goals.
  • If needed, we’ll team up with your support coordinator to keep things running smoothly.
Think of it like a first date, we’ll be getting to know each other and setting the stage for a great journey ahead.

Client improvement and satisfaction are what truly ignite my passion, which is why I enjoy settings where significant progress can be made with appropriate clinical intervention. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The frequency of your sessions is a team decision.

Whether it’s weekly, monthly, or every few months, we’ll find what works best for your goals.

Our job? Helping you build the skills and independence to eventually kick us to the curb (in the best way, of course)!

Every Occupational Therapy journey is as unique as the person it’s for. Here’s an example of how an OT might help someone with a goal to live more independently:

Imagine you’re keen to build confidence in the kitchen, but cooking feels like an overwhelming challenge. An OT could work with you, starting with simple tasks like preparing snacks or boiling pasta, and gradually helping you develop the skills to cook your favourite meals.

By breaking it down step by step, you might go from struggling to serving up your signature spaghetti Bolognese -maybe even sharing leftovers with family or friends.

The proof, as they say, is in the pasta

OTs play a key role in bringing the right care to you. We’ll guide when to bring in other professionals (with your consent) to make sure you’re fully supported.

Think of healthcare like a 3D movie – each professional brings their own lens, and together, we get the full picture of your needs and goals.

We combine our perspectives to create a plan that’s meaningful and makes a real difference.

For example, we recently worked with someone who was having trouble communicating their needs and engaging in risky behaviours when stressed.

Our OT recommended a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to conduct a behavioural assessment and a Speech Pathologist to help find supportive communication methods.

The NDIS covers a wide range of Occupational Therapy supports to help you reach your goals. Here’s some of the supports that we provide under the NDIS:

  • Functional Capacity Assessments
  • Supported Disability Accomodation (SDA) Assessments
  • Supported Independent Living (SIL) Assessments
  • Home Modifications to improve the safety and accessibility of your residence
  • Assistive Technology and Equipment Prescription including wheelchairs, scooters, and shower chairs, just to name a few…
  • Early Intervention for Children
  • Falls Prevention
  • Mental Health Support
  • Dementia Care and Planning

Here’s how we’ve got you covered:

  • NDIS Registered & Fully Vetted: All our clinicians are NDIS registered and have the necessary Working With Children and police checks.
  • Always Up-to-Date: We stay on top of the latest NDIS guidelines to provide the best care.
  • Highest Standards of Care: All assessments are peer-reviewed to ensure top-quality, effective support.
  • Regular Supervision & Growth Plans: Each clinician has a personalised growth plan, supported by regular supervision.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Our OTs collaborate with Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, and Behaviour Support Practitioners to achieve the best outcomes.

We’re here to support you with a dedicated, knowledgeable team working together every step of the way.
