What a senior occupational therapy role looks like at Ignite Healthcare
As a senior OT and supervisor at Ignite, you’ll manage your own caseload alongside your supervision responsibilities. The caseload is genuinely varied – predominantly NDIS, with aged care via Support at Home, and presentations across paediatrics, assistive technology, home modifications, neurodivergence, and more.
We match participants to clinicians based on strengths and interests, so your caseload reflects what you’re good at and what you want to go deeper in – not just whatever needs filling. As your career develops, there’s real scope to build a specialist focus in the areas that interest you most.
The non-clinical day-to-day is handled by our business support team, allied health team manager, and wider management, so your time stays focused on clinical work.
What supervision looks like at Ignite
You’ll hold regular scheduled one-on-ones with your supervisees, with your approach tailored to where each person is at. The structure is there – but so is the trust. Want to run supervision from a cafe? Do what you know works best for the person in front of you.
Supervisee numbers are flexible, starting from one and growing based on what works for you. And you’re supported too – you’ll have your own supervisor and access to our Clinical Excellence Lead, so there’s always someone with clinical depth in your corner.
Where a senior OT career at Ignite can go
This isn’t a role you grow out of. There are clear pathways forward depending on what interests you:
Clinical pathways:Β Deepen your supervision practice, become a clinical consultant and the go-to person in your area of expertise, or move into a Clinical Excellence Lead role – shaping clinical policy and the direction of the OT team.
Operational pathways:Β For those drawn toward leadership beyond the clinical, there are pathways into Allied Health Team Manager and Regional Manager roles. Ignite promotes from within and the people currently in those roles came through clinical positions.
Yun came to Ignite with PBS experience and a counselling background. In her first year, she stepped into the Allied Health Team Manager role, supporting a multidisciplinary team. By her second year, she moved into the Regional Manager role, taking on team support, policy work and system development as part of her leadership.
Ash joined Ignite in the early days when the team was small. She was always proactive, hands-on, and always stepping in where she was needed. As Ignite grew, she moved into the Allied Health Team Manager role, supporting a multidisciplinary team and shaping how the service operated day to day. Her role kept expanding, and she stepped up again as Regional Manager, taking on broader service development and operational challenges. She now works as General Manager, bringing that same energy; initiative, problem-solving, and a willingness to take things on, to how Ignite grows and adapts.
Where and how you'll work
Ignite is primarily community-based – you’ll work across Melbourne in people’s homes, schools, and the community, with clinic and telehealth options available. Scheduling is built around the work, not a rigid office structure.
A current driver’s licence, Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Police Check are required across all our roles.
But more than anything, we’re looking for people who are curious, honest and willing to give things a go. People who ask questions, reflect on their practice, and care deeply about the people they work with – supervisees and clients alike.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. Just a genuine interest in learning, growing and doing the work thoughtfully. Experience matters, but attitude matters more.

You’ll also need a current driver’s licence, Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and Police Check.
More than anything, we’re looking for people who are curious, honest, and care about the work – both with the people they support and the clinicians they supervise.

Not at all. We value attitude over experience. If you’re curious, reflective and genuinely care about developing other clinicians, we’d love to hear from you. We’ll support you to grow into the role with your own supervisor and our Clinical Excellence Lead genuinely in your corner.
We’ll support you to grow into the role with your own supervisor and our Clinical Excellence Lead in your corner.
This is flexible and built around what works for you. You might start with one supervisee and grow from there, there’s no fixed number and no pressure to take on more than you’re comfortable with.
Yes – you’ll maintain your own OT caseload alongside supervision responsibilities. Scheduled supervision sessions are built into your week, and the business support team handles the non-clinical admin, so the balance stays manageable.
Sessions are structured and scheduled, but the format is yours to shape with each supervisee. Office, cafe, or online – whatever works best for the person you’re supporting. Between sessions, you’re available for the impromptu clinical questions that come up in community practice.
Ignite supervisors receive plenty of support.
You’ll have your own supervisor, access to our internal Clinical Excellence Lead, and a business support team, allied health team manager and wider management handling all the non-clinical day-to-day, so you can stay focused on the clinical work
There are several ways you can grow your career a Ignite. Clinical pathways include becoming a clinical consultant or Clinical Excellence Lead. Operational pathways include Allied Health Team Manager and Regional Manager. At Ignite we love to promote from within, so very often the people in the decision-making roles now came through clinical positions and have been in your shoes.
Your own OT appointments across a varied caseload, scheduled supervision sessions with your supervisees, and the occasional impromptu clinical question in between. How and where you run supervision is up to you and your supervisee.
For OT roles at Ignite Healthcare you’ll need to be AHPRA registered, along with a current Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Police Check.
Beyond that, we’re more interested in your clinical experience, your approach and your genuine interest in supporting other clinicians
