A PBS Access Report is the first step in determining whether Positive Behaviour Support is the right path for someone who may need extra help managing risky behaviours. The report is designed to assess a person’s unique needs and challenges, ensuring they receive the appropriate support through the NDIS. It’s a crucial process that helps set the foundation for tailored strategies that promote safety, wellbeing, and positive change.
This process typically takes around 10-15 hours, encompassing both appointments and report writing. It is billed under the NDIS funding category for Capacity Building. Once completed, it is submitted to the NDIS to review.
How does this process happen?
During a PBS Access Report, our clinicians work closely with the individual, their support network, and any relevant professionals to assess the need for Positive Behaviour Support. This process involves understanding the person’s unique circumstances, identifying risky behaviours, identifying any potential restrictive practices and determining whether PBS funding is necessary. The goal is to create a clear picture of how PBS can provide the right support and help them achieve their NDIS goals.
What can I expect after the report is complete?
Once the report is complete, you will be notified by the PBS clinician who will send a copy to yourself and, with consent, your support coordinator. This will then be included in your next NDIS plan review or change of circumstance application so that Behaviour Support Funding can be included in your next NDIS plan.
What happens after I get the funding?
Once you have Behaviour Support Funding, you’re set to begin receiving support. You can contact us and one of our PBS clinicians will start by developing a Behaviour Support Plan and implementing the recommended strategies from the access report. If you enjoyed working with your PBS clinician during the Access Report process, we will try to allocate you to the same person.
